Faith vs. Fear: How Journaling Restores Your Creativity

When Fear Says “You’ve Lost Your Creativity” (…But Your Journal Proves Otherwise)

Every writer has that moment — the midnight jolt awake, the fear that whispers something untrue and outsized. Mine came at 2 a.m. this week, wrapping itself around my thoughts with a sudden panic:

“What if I lose my ideation? What if the ideas stop coming?”

Ideation is one of my core strengths. It fuels my stories, my Kickstarter planning, my worldbuilding… even how I approach my day-to-day life. So the fear hit hard. And of course, once that fear opened the door, all the others crept in behind it — doubts about launches, deadlines, and whether I’m “doing enough.”

But morning changes everything.

A few hours later, I opened my journal and found four brand-new ideas I had scribbled down over the past week alone. Not only had I not lost ideation — I had been actively generating ideas without noticing.

It reminded me of something powerful:

Fear exaggerates.

But Faith Reveals Truth.
And Journaling Gives Proof of the Truth.

If you’ve had a “midnight creativity crisis,” you’re not alone. The next time that fear appears, take a moment and pray, then check your own pages. Chances are, the evidence of your creative mind is right there waiting to remind you of what’s real.

Writing Prompt:

Write a scene where your character fears losing the very skill that defines them — then write a second version in the morning light, where evidence proves the fear false.

Kickstarter

Some of my fears this week were also wrapped up in my Kickstarter. Fear of the launch, fear of not being enough, fear of failing publicly.
But just like the ideation fear, I’m realizing those feelings don’t match the work, the preparation, or the passion behind the trilogy.
